Our platform

From page to stage

December 2019 – May 2020

We do not believe in a ‘winner takes it all’ mentality. Instead, we want to make sure that all contestants benefit from participating in the Philips Innovation Award. In order to stimulate entrepreneurship for every individual, we have created a process in which participants are guided by our partners. This guidance consists of feedback on business plans and concrete advice for every specific start-up.

Beneficial for every contestant

Our platform consists of several stages in order to help and stimulate our contestants:

  • The first stage, the Idea Stage, is not mandatory if you want to sign up for the Philips Innovation Award, but it is highly recommended. During this stage you have the opportunity to hand in your executive summary and receive feedback written by de Kleine Consultant.

  • The second stage, the developing stage, will focus on developing a real business plan according to our guidelines. The business plans will be reviewed by our Business Panel. The top thirty business plans will continue to the semi-final.

  • The third stage, the refining stage, prepares the thirty start-ups for the semi-final by offering several workshops at wearereasonablepeople in order to improve their business plan and rethink/reshape business aspects that need improvement. During the semi-final, each start-up will pitch their idea and a selection of eight teams is made to battle against each other in the Grand Final.

  • The fourth stage, the final stage, is the stage in which the Grand Final will take place. To prepare for this day, the final contestants will join a coaching and pitching day. The winners will consist of one Innovator and one Rough Diamond with prices worth €50.000 and €10.000, respectively.

First Stage

(not mandatory for participation)

The deadline for the first stage, the Idea Stage, is in December. During this stage, you have the option to submit your idea on one page in the format of an executive summary. Our working partner: de Kleine Consultant, will read and evaluate your idea and provide you with feedback. The 10 best executive summaries receive a price of €100! Important to note here is that we make sure your idea remains your idea. Everyone will sign a nondisclosure agreement: we guarantee that your idea is safe with us and will not get stolen.
The next step is to improve certain aspects of your idea (if necessary) and transform your idea into a real Business Plan according to our Guidelines. This will take place during the Second Stage: The Developing Stage!
