07 mrt Closure – Winner 2018
Founders: Chantal van der Velde and Graciella van Hamersveld.
Closure enables relatives to end or change subscriptions, contracts and accounts of a loved one that has passed away. Think of phone subscriptions, insurance, bank accounts, magazines and social media channels (Facebook, Instagram). Very often, these (social media) accounts exist for many more years and ending the subscription is a hassle, time consuming and very confronting. Closure is a service that completely takes care of it. Because of Closure, relatives can easily indicate the companies that need to be informed.
What is the goal of Closure?
The reason we have founded Closure is because we noticed around us how painful and stressful the process can be after a relative has passed away. Not only organizing the funeral but also the time after that. One of the main causes is the fact that many subscriptions, contracts and accounts need to be terminated after the person has passed away. On average there are thirty accounts that need to be taken care of. We wanted to tackle this by establishing Closure.
How did Closure benefit from winning the Philips Innovation Award?
“By participating we were challenged by many entrepreneurs and professionals to think about and improve our business plan, revenue model and legal aspects.”
After we won the Philips Innovation Award in May 2018 we started with our pilot. By participating we were challenged by many entrepreneurs and professionals to think about and improve our business plan, revenue model and legal aspects. We were challenged every day to think about minor but essential details. Besides that, we received trainings to improve our pitching and coaching which is really helpful when talking to investors later on.
